I think he is trying to make himself look like a wolf or something of the sort to make him seem like a threat to the larget owl. With the smaller one, he just made himself look bigger, to try and scare it off.

Actually, he made himself look like a twig and spins around so that it doesn't show the white tummy to its enemy.

But if I was a predator... I'd run if I saw that evil thing.

all i could think of the first one was that it turned into a chicken or a turkey lol
