Eh, I don't really see how it could become any MORE of a popularity contest. About the only way I could see them getting a good idea of the person is to basically stalk them in-game for a bit. They could get a few people in mind then "tap" their whisper lines for a while, see how they act. It'd be tedious, I'm sure, but without having the name leaked to some actual players, I don't see how else they could properly vet the person. It's probably more trouble than it's worth to do a good job, though.

By nominations, I'd say essays as to why they deserve it, things they've done around the community, and such. Anyone can say "They help friends and guildies with quests". And it wouldn't necessarily be based off of the amount of the amount of nominations, but the essays.

Thats how I'd do it..

I agree with Yosei's point. Rather than to have OutSpark choose who is worthy, it should be us the players that vote on these things. After all no GM know the community better than the community itself.

Eh, I don't think it should be voted on by the community. Then it becomes a pure popularity contest. The essay is a good idea, though.

I saw her on the forums,
She seems..stuck up?

I don't wanna be rude or anything,
But from those screenshots and those comments,
She doesn't deserve it.

As for the Essay idea,
I really think Yosei or someone else should hand over that idea to the GMs.
Though whomever the GMs would pick from the essays,
At least one person would pick out that it was favoritism.

How do the GMs even pick a PotM?

They see them on the forums while they're in their good mood and say;
"They're super nice! They should be Player of the month!!"

Or do they see them in-game with extenders,permanent mount, costume, pets, and a premium house and say;
"They're addicted to CS items! They should be Player of the month!"

And I agree,
The only worthy PotM is Yosei.

Alsooo, I really thought Celtic_Princes was very worthy, she's very nice in-game as well as on the forums, and is defanitly very helpful. Her and Yosei were two of the ones I really ever thought was deserving.

There was another one...Twilight something or other. He always seemed pretty cool in game. He had a trivia contest in Elderine one time and I snagged 500s for answering a single question.

I didn't know them in game, But from their interview,
I knew they weren't that kind of stuck-up person.

And also, I think that if a player is selected a POTM, I think they have a title, and a reputation to keep, regardless of what has or havent happend in the past, and for he/she to come along and say/do these things is truly unacceptable.
