Computer people!

What do you guys think about monthly payments? I've been really wanting to get a computer for a long time but saving up is such a pain. It's going to take me quite a long time to save up enough money to buy a computer up to my standards. So I was wondering what do you guys think about Dell Monthly Payments? Specifically this one:http://www.dell.com/us/p/xps-8300/pd...el_id=xps-8300 (comes with a 21.5" monitor). So that's about $1000. If you look at this: http://www.dell.com/content/topics/s...dpa_pricepoint it shows that if I pay an extra $50/month, which then totals to $80, which is something I can easily pay, the computer will get paid off in 2years for only about $200extra. Do you guys think it's worth it to purchase that and pay it off in 2 years or just save up and not have to worry about payments after I've purchased it?

Also, not sure if it matters but my dad bought our current computer using that method and paid it all off.

DIDN'T CLICK LINKS OR READ. But I'll just say... don't get a PC unless its like, way over $500, it'll break in 4 months-ish. Or just get a Mac. wooppeee.

Well first of all, what kind of a computer do you need? Gaming, programming, office, etc.

And my advice is don't buy online, if something messes up (my dad got his comp from Dell, so I know all this) it will take you WEEKS for customer support to get to you and fix the problem. Buy it from a store, keep the receipt, if anything goes wrong you can simply take it back and not wait on phone for hours.

On another note, it may be cheaper to build your own system from scratch, if you have a basic understanding of computer hardware. The downside is that there's no warranty, heh. So if you break something, you may end up paying extra, but still less than buying a custom-built system (especially from Dell).

Primarily gaming. My family has had good experiences with Dell. Our computer came when it was supposed to came and it was during December so it was holiday season. And when I reformatted my computer I messed something up so I called dell and dled something and they took control of my computer from wherever they were and fixed my computer easily.

I would build a computer, but I have absolutely no knowledge of computer hardware. I read that it takes a lot of time to build a computer, especially if your new to it and it's usually not significantly cheaper than just buying it premade. So I don't wanna waste the time and energy into it if the difference isn't going to be much.

I don't really wanna buy from the store because that would require me saving up the money, which is going to take me awhile which is why I'm asking about Dell monthly payments.

You mean TeamViewer that you downloaded?

Also, building from the scratch is good. I built mine and running for 5years until now.

I personally dont like monthly payments that last longer that 6~12 months, as your PC will either break or become obsolete in that time.

Payment wise.. as long as you can be sure you'll have that kind of income coming in to pay for the monthly payment..

Could you have saved up for the whole lot of money after the term of monthly payments? (how long is it? 12 months?)

I hate having to make monthly payments in any form. If I was to buy something like a computer I'd rather save for those 10 or so months.

Yeah, it's a pain to save up but it's basically the same thing when you are doing monthly. And by the time you pay it off and make it your own you'd probably want a newer model because that one is now a dinosaur.
