ESO Game Guide
Ether Saga: Game Guide
Creating this guide to help people who ask questions and do not want to go looking themselves. ;] Feel free to ask me in-game as well, I'll try to help as much as possible. I may reply slow because I'm usually dragging 10 or so mobs behind me.
Information taken from in-game as well as ethersaga.info and from my own experience. Do not claim this as your own, credit myself and the cited sources. It takes time to write up a guide.

Miscellaneous Information
Includes information that does not fit any other categories.Dual Client
There is a way to dual client without using third party programs and all the like. Credit goes to Derr for finding it.
Go to your Ether Saga folder (wherever you saved it) > element > elementclient.exe This opens up a new game window and you will be able to log into your alternate account.
Race
There are three races in ESO: Yaoh, Shenzu, and the Ren. There are no differences between the races aside from looks and birthday skill sets available for each race; each race also has a set of race specific storyline and quests to accompany it. One race does not excel in a particular class.
Classes
There are a total of 6 classes: Dragoon, Rogue, Ranger, Mystic, Conjurer, and Shaman. Each class also receive a pet to start off with to help you along the journey.Dragoon
Role: Tank/Melee
Affinity: Erda
Description: The main tanker class for the game. Able to wear heavy armour for increased defense and destroy enemies with their lances. Unfortunately, at this point, they do not have a taunt skill except through Birthday Skills. Their skills include self buffs to increase max HP and defense.
Builds:
Erda:Unda Great for tanking. High base HP.
Rogue
Role: Damage/Melee
Affinity: Oora
Description: Rogues get up close and personal with enemies. Though they have low defense they pack quite a punch with great agility. They are able to hide themselves in the shadows and strike with their dual daggers; as well as self buffs to increase their overall damage.
Builds:
Oora:Erda Anti-Ranger. High damage and defense
Oora:Widu High evasion build.
Ranger
Role: Damage/Ranged
Affinity: Unda/Widu
Description: Rangers defeat their enemies via the use of status effects such as sleep, stun, and ensnare. With high evasion, distance, and powerful shots they will prove to be a strong ally or a deadly foe.
Builds:
Unda:Widu Basic build. Most power output.
Mystic
Role: Support/Ranged
Affinity: Unda
Description: Mystics are your healers of the game supporting their friends with healing magic and defensive buffs. They wear light armour and carry staves.
Builds:
Unda:Pyra High damage and healing capabilities early game.
Unda:Widu Evasion build.
Unda:Erda Defensive build, adds to accuracy. Great for PvE.
Conjurer
Role: Damage/Ranged
Affinity: Pyra/Unda
Description: Conjurers strike fear into their enemies hearts with powerful offensive as well as manipulative magic. With further training they will be able to strengthen their damage with self buffs. Be wary not to cross paths with a seasoned conjurer.
Builds:
Pyra:Unda High damage output.
Shaman
Role: Damage/Support/Melee(?)
Affinity: Widu
Description: Jack of all trades. They are the secondary tank of the game with an ability to heal and support the team. They wield a hammer and wear heavy armour.
Builds:
Widu:Erda High damage and defense.
Widu:Pyra High damage and healing early game.
----------
Affinity
ESO uses a unique 'stat' system. Instead of your usual STR, DEX, etc., you invest points into different affinities or elements. You receive 5 affinity points every 5 levels (ie. level 5, 10, 15, and so on).
There are two types of critical hits: critstrike and critcast. One is for normal attacks (auto) and the other is for skills respectively.
All skills aside from the very first skill you receive at Lv3 is magic based. Mouseover to check your skill's affinity. Therefore intellect raises your damage for skills. Also, raising the affinity that your skill is based on will increase the damage more than just adding intellectOora
Gold/metal. Adds +3 to strength each point and slightly increases critcast %. Also increases damage of Oora based skills.
Unda
Water. Adds +20 HP each point as well as increases HP regeneration rate while in non-combat mode (idle). Increases Unda based skill damage.
Widu
Wood. Adds +1 resistance, and +1 intellect; increases resilience (evasion). Slight increase in critstrike damage. Increases Widu based skill damage.
Pyra
Fire. Adds +3 intellect with each point. Slightly increases critstrike %. Increases Pyra based skill damage.
Erda
Earth. Adds +1 defense, +1 strength with each point;increases accuracy. Slight increase in critcast damage. Increases Erda based skill damage.
----------
Birthday Skills
Another feature unique to ESO is the birthday skills. It is a set of skills you receive depending on your race and the date of birth you choose. You are given these at level 15, 30 and 50. There are skills that will benefit a certain class more than the other such as the taunt skill... which might be more beneficial for a dragoon. Look through and find the perfect combination for your play style.
Birthday Skill Calculator

An easier way to choose birthday skills. It isn't perfect but it'll give you a quick overview.
Birthday Skill List
Birthday List
Skills translated by Laki.
Here is my suggestion on how to use the two pages.- In the list of skills, we have quite the selection of 80 or so. Each of them has their own number, which will be used to identify them when referenced in the "skills by birthday". This is the leftmost number, under the heading of "skill number".
- None of the skills are class specific. It is completely birthday specific. Each birthday has 3 different skills assigned to it. This selection of skills is unique to each race. This is color coded in "skills by birthday".
How to use it!
- Make sure to have some idea in your head of what class you want to be, because some skills will be incredibly useful for your particular class, while others are not. For example, I doubt a melee class is going to want magic or mp regen so much as a mage class.
- Open "List of Skills". You may want a good memory, or a word proccessor, or good old pen and paper for this. Make note of the skills that are useful to you. Make sure you write down THE SKILL NUMBER, the one on the left, and not the skill name. That number is its name and reference from here on out. Make yourself a decently sized list of skills you would like to have, because chances are those three ultimate skills won't all land on the same birthday.
- Open "Skills by Birthday". An example of how this works: January 1 gives skill 26, 37, and 66. These are Fly on Grass, Eternal Star, and Sure-Die on the Skill List. Therefore, if you pick January 1, you will have those three skills.
- I'd suggest using search or find to locate all occurances of the skill you value having most. This will slim down your selection a bit. Searching for skill #82, for example, turns out 6 different instances of it. So, if you're really in love with skill #82, just take a quick peek at those 6 and see which one has the two other skills you would want, or whatever gets you as close to your goal/as useful as possible.
----------
Equipment
You can buy or make your own weapons and armour through the trade merchant or various vocation skills. Of course you can also find them through mob drops. Weapons will have an option to increase intellect through imbuing while armours have the option to raise either defense or health (more in the next section).Regular (White)
These can be found through NPCs or normal mob drops. They will start to glow green once they reach +4 imbue.
Star (Green)
Star equipments are found through instance dungeon drops. They emit a green glow at +0 and intensifies as it goes up. Lv30 star equipment glows blue at +3 and dark blue at +6.
There are also two types of armour. One which increases Defense when imbued and the other which increases Health. Look at the options and check to make sure you have the right one. :]

Imbue
Similar to Fiesta's enhancements you can imbue your weapon and armour to increase it's damage or other attributes. When you mouseover a weapon or armour, at the bottom of the info there will be a little note indicating what stat will rise when you imbue. Most weapons will raise intellect while armour will have either defense or health bonuses.
You are able to imbue at the Blacksmith with either your gold or treasure. It is highly recommended to use treasure (choose the second option at the Blacksmith) rather than gold for obvious reasons. Treasure is obtainable via quest rewards. Imbuing does not break your weapon but it will degrade; how many times it degrades is based on luck... it can go down one level or it can go down to 0 with one try.
Ethrelic
Imbues regular equipment (white names). Found via mob drops.
Condensed Ethrelic
Imbues star equipment (green names). Found via mobs in instance dungeons. Embed
In addition to imbuing your equipment you are also able to socket in gems/jades to raise a certain stat. Your weapon will tell you how many times it can be embedded. You can only embed your weapon and/or armour with the same type of gem (ie. if you used Raw Jade of Fog, you can only use that to keep embedding). Embedding does not fail.
Armours generally do not come with sockets to insert gems therefore you will have to drill holes with Hand Drills. This will have consequences and it may break your equipment. So if you plan on increasing sockets make sure to do that first before imbuing or adding other gems.
Raw Jade of Fog
Increases intellect.
Raw Jade of Water
Increase resistance.
Raw Jade of Earth
Increases defense.
Raw Jade of Air
Increases mana. Each gem can be 'fused' to create a higher tier gem. You will need two gems of the same kind and tier and a Smithery Goo (bought at the Blacksmith). Go to the Ancient Forge and fuse. Each fuse will cost some amount of gold/silver and it does have a chance to fail.
Raw > Crude > Common > Fair > Refined
Both imbuing and embedding will make your equipment glow.
Pets
Pets are essential in this game. They help to both support you with heals and/or buffs as well as providing additional damage. You are able to fuse with pets to increase certain stats (which is determined by your pet).
Pet Types
There are 4 types of pets which you are able to catch: fierce, cautious, bright, and normal. Each type specializes in a certain 'field' and their stat growth will be different.
Fierce: Tank/Melee Damage
Pets that are fierce will have higher HP, defense, and attack and is ideal to fuse with. They are able to learn passive skills to increase their HP as well as defense from scrolls. Your starter pets are Fierce types.
Cautious: Damage Dealer/Long Range/Debuff
They have skills to inflict DoTs as well as ensnare an enemy; their specialty is long range damage. They are great to have summoned for additional damage.
Bright: Healer/buffer
Bright pets are everyone's best friend. It is recommended to have one of these with you to heal you while fighting. Their intellect has the higher growth rate.
Normal: Jack-of-all-trades master of none
These pets have less than mediocre stats and will not prove to be all that great compared to those with actual effects.
Pet Fuse
You are able to fuse with your pet to boost your stats. Your damage will be halved; one half taken by you the other by your pet. Though keep in mind your pet's type; a Humanoid pet will take greater damage when faced with a Haunten type mob.
Pet Melding
Once your pets hit 30 they are available to meld via the Ancestral Forge. Pet melding allows for the target pet to have better stats overall and possibly change their types to a higher tier to learn better skills.
Their exp rate will also increase and will be easier to level. More information is in-game through the L button. It's something that is better for you to check out yourself. It isn't exactly a must-do thing as far as I can tell at the moment.

On a side note, if anyone has a better description for certain things let me know. I have only really played the melee classes and have not touched the mage classes, especially Shamans. ^^: I apologize beforehand that I may be a bit biased towards Rangers because that is my main.

Build suggestions (based on personal testing and gathered data):
Dragoon:
DPS: Oora/Erda for no skill spam, Pyra/Erda for skill spam. Oora/Pyra is possible, but skills are based on Erda, and that is a serious factor.
Tank: Erda/Unda (full tank) and Erda/Widu
Rogue:
Oora/Erda (more defensive), Oora/Pyra (more offensive), Oora/Widu (hybrid).
Ranger:
Unda/Widu, Erda/Widu for tanking somewhat.
Mystic:
Haven't played it extensively. Can't help here. Mine is Pyra/Unda though.
Conjurer:
Pyra/Unda.
Shaman:
I'm testing Widu/Erda at the moment.
I must note that Conjurers are very fun to play. However, you need to stock up on potions or rest a bunch when you tackle higher level mobs.
Male characters are ugly. So I'm considering cross-dressing. /perviness

Thanks Triumph. I think I need to have a build section. :]
I think you can even stretch stats to 3 affinities for some 'hybrids' even. Something along the lines of 2:2:1 which is what I am doing for my Dragoon... except the build just totally escaped my mind right now. D:
That or with the embedding feature you can find the gem you want and embed those as well. The good thing about the game I think is that you're not exactly bound to a single cookie cutter build (to some extent). :]

Meh, that was always like the 25 SPR debate in Fiesta for me. It may not be too large of a factor, but it feels like it's almost diluted.
With that said, I have tested 2 Unda 2 Widu 1 Erda for Rangers, if you want to put that in. It's pretty balanced, but if you embed you can come close to a pure Urda/Widu build in terms of damage, and still have a decent defense. Of course pure Urda/Widu can counter with pure Earth.
The 7 day deletion is a pain. Make more accounts if you want to do testing.

SPR thing... at least all stats (except Unda) add a relative amount of crit. x]
I was wondering about that because it seemed to be a really balanced build. There was someone at officials who did a Widu/Erda build... had 170 def and about the same damage as me. *0* Would be nice for a solo'er.
Added a birthday skill calculator. Very useful so have a look.

Didn't some stats add crit damage, instead of crit chance? I didn't read the descriptions in detail, nor have I played much lately so I could be wrong...
