Holiday Traditions
So, to go with the festivities and since Christmas is 4 days away.
What kinds of things do you do around the Holidays. Family traditions, activies, etc. Doesn't have to necessarily be Christmas, open to all religions and the Holidays they celebrate around this time of year.

My paternal grandmother has a meal on Christmas day at noonish. When we were kids, we used to do the whole gift thing. Now that the "grandkids" are all adults, we generally give her gifts.
I let my son tear into his gifts at midnight on Christmas Eve. No real reason to, as I'm an avowed agnostic, but it's so fun watching him squirm with anticipation for the first few days of winter break. That's about as traditional as I get, heh.

Visit my relative's house to eat and get* presents(?)
*I now almost never have presents before/by Christmas... ^^" So I have nothing to give until I go shopping later. o-o
*I'm not sure I'll get anything since I'm in college, haha. But I'm fine with good food and funny stories. <3 Won't be as much funny stories without my cousin from New York though.
There's also the chance my relatives who host these things go on a trip instead, and it just becomes a normal day for us.

We usually have a big dinner with cousin's family and sometimes also with family friends (if they aren't having their own thing with their own relatives). But this year, my aunt and uncle are also coming to visit from overseas (and atm we have another aunt aunt and uncle staying here haha. one pair is leaving on christmas while the second pair + their nephew (I think) is coming on the day afterwards).
My mum does all the christmas decorations around the house. Atm we have a christmas tree with LOTS of presents undeneath it. I think about 90% of the presents are for my two little cousins for when they come over, haha!!

Well since I made the thread, I guess I will share x.x
When I was little,
On Christmas eve, everyone in our family would get together at someones house, it was usually either our house or my aunt mary's house since we had the biggest. They'd all draw names and do the secret santa thing. We'd have a big feast and open presents, they'd usually play a few rounds of poker, then we'd all watch the news and watch the weather dude tell us where Santa was last seen.
Now its just me, my parents, and the kids. We decorate the tree, the kids have a rock paper scissors battle to see who gets to put the star up. We bake these aweful sugar cookies, but they're fun to make. We watch Christmas movies with the kids a lot. On Christmas eve, my family is going to church, and I will be staying home cleaning ^^;;

Well, I used to grab my guitar an head over to my teacher's house to play a few carols, but ever since I moved, I haven't been able to do that. As for New Year's Day, I would go to my friend's house at the evening of 31st, and we would sit and talk o the terrace...Sometimes we would play the guitar, and all of a sudden the city would get alight with fireworks...yeah...I miss my old city. No real Christmas rituals because we aren't Christians, LOL
