Virus Warning =/
my anti virus program (avast!) just popped up and said i've got something in my WINDOWS32 (sp?) folder that there's a malware called remove.exe
It wants to scan my comp in boot phase, i said yes once and it closed my window very quickly and did a very slow scan...
after 5 mins at still 0%, i quit it, hoping to scan it again at dinner time instead...
but it popped up again =/
Anyone heard of it? Should I let avast! do the job? (I'm just worried that its a "fake" avast! playing up....

remove.exe sounds more a deinstaller than a malwear. Now, i would go to windows folder and FIND it.
If its there, then dont know (I would actually recommend using avg....).
If there isnt, then you know its a fake

Might just be avast! updating there program.
Now, correct me if im wrong anyone, but the modifyed and creation date CAN be faked...
Just google "Remove.exe pixart imaging"
Then have a check to see if you have anything to do with "PixArt" ^

Avast does have false positives.
I would upload the file to www.virustotal.com which uses 30+ different antivirus engines to examine the file. =]
EDIT: Bela was quick. lol. seems the people on that forum also recommend virustotal.

"All evil needs to succeed is for good people to do nothing."
Most malware runs rampant because alot of people do just like you. Nothing. Then they wonder why they start having irrecoverable data loss cause clusters go bad cause your drive stays junked up for so many years. Best to upload it to virus total just to be safe. That way, at least you know, it would indeed be nothing.

right now, the Avast people are examining the file.
On Hessah's part, she can't do much apart from waiting. Lots of people on the forum have the same problem at the same day. It's too coincidental to signify that an infection is present.
