Reps gives you an avenue to make a comment on someone's post annoymously.

And in return you get green dots, or red dots depending on whether it's positive or negative.

But other than that, it doesn't affect anything else.

I always thought that the rep was for showing who was helpful and who wasn't.

Like you wouldn't trust someone who has red bars, but you would trust someone with a bunch of green bars. But some people want red bars on purpose.

Well, kirby, that is what the system is generally meant to do, yes. But back in ye olden days the rep settings were different and people had ungodly amounts of repping power, giving multiple dots at a time. By this point, they really are meaningless here.

You only see the red bar if you have enough negative reps.
