Syncing iPad to multiple computers

Has anyone tried this?

I'm wondering how it works.. Mainly for pictures..

I've got my computer at home, with several folders of photos and things that I sync to my iPad...

I've taken my iPad to work, and I want to put one folder within My Pictures folder onto the iPad...

If I go sync pictures with a selected folder in My Pictures, will it delete my existing photos on the iPad because they're currently not on my work computer that I'm syncing it to?
