I haven't watched in a while... but it should start out like she's a sort of supervisor at a schooooool... and she's doing that with Zero.... and there are all the fan girls for the vampires, but they don't know that they're vampires. But she does have quite a few flashbacks in the beginning.

Make sure you have the correct first episode, and if it is, just keep watching. It's really good and it all makes sense later.
