Newbie Questions
Hello all. I just started playing this game last night, and am loving it so far. I have some newb questions I was hoping someone could answer for me though:
1)What are the penalties for death? I haven't noticed anything yet, although I'm currently only level 5.
2)I know at level 20 you can class change. What I was wondering, is if I don't do the class change until later on for whatever reason, like level 22 or 25, will I lose anything like stat gains? Should I do it right at level 20 for max benefit?
3)I want to start some professions to make some extra money as well as potions/scrolls. How do I do that?
4)How many characters can you have on a server?
5)Do monsters always give at least 1 exp?
6)Do monsters always drop loot? Like, if I was level 100 and going through a newbie zone and killed a slime, could it drop something still?
Thanks all. That's all I can think of for right now. These are the questions I've been wondering the most about lately, and I like to plan ahead.

1) Nothing for you right now, but after lvl 10 you start to lose exp every time you die.
2) No, as far as I know, but you do need the job change in order to be able to wear new armor/learn new skills.
3) Head to Skills, and press the Alchemy skill icon. This should help you pick: http://www.fiestafan.com/wiki/Production_Skills
4) 4.
5) Yes.
6) Not really, if the monster name is gray to you, then it may drop something, but very very rarely.

EDIT: ^Ew You suck. D< Lol
1)What are the penalties for death? I haven't noticed anything yet, although I'm currently only level 5.
1% after Lv10
2)I know at level 20 you can class change. What I was wondering, is if I don't do the class change until later on for whatever reason, like level 22 or 25, will I lose anything like stat gains? Should I do it right at level 20 for max benefit?
You wouldn't really lose out but it's best to change asap.
3)I want to start some professions to make some extra money as well as potions/scrolls. How do I do that?
Press K and choose which ones you like to learn. Most seem to go for potions and scrolls. And then let an alt learn decomp/comp to break down materials for their main.
4)How many characters can you have on a server?
4 per server.
5)Do monsters always give at least 1 exp?
If the monsters are 30 levels higher or lower than you it will only give 1 exp.
6)Do monsters always drop loot? Like, if I was level 100 and going through a newbie zone and killed a slime, could it drop something still?
Nope. And even if it was possible the chances are slim... very very slim.

Looks like everything's been covered. As a side note, your moxie will do you no good here.

Thanks all for the quick responses.
I just have a clarification on my question about item drops.
I didn't mean, drop items 100% of the time, because I know that's not true. What I meant was, if I go back to a newbie zone at a higher level because I switch my profession or something, can I kill Slimes and get item drops from them, even if they're rare? I was just curious because I've noticed that at just level 5, Slimes already rarely drop stuff for me. Does it get worse, or does the drop rate just diminish to something just above 0%?

The rates might as well be 0, to get any drops, not just the rare ones.

The class change is not like you can change from a cleric to an archer for instance. It is a job title change and must be completed before you can equip any lev 20+ gear.
