Comodo Internet Security

Has anyone tried it out yet?

I've been using it for a few months and am actually impressed by its performance. Did I mention it's also free?

Though... I strongly recommend it for those who can cope with problems because:

- Its antivirus is still a work-in-progress so it doesn't detect as many threats as the well known brands (but its database are growing each day). To compensate for this, I always use Kaspersky online scan to cross reference on a regular basis (though really, you should always cross reference even if you're using Norton, Kaspersky, ESET, etc.). So if your surfing habit is "unsafe", this suite may not be ready for you yet.

- Its firewall is just, simply, excellent. Granted, it takes a lot of configurations at times and certain problems need to be dealt with manually. For instance, I had to configure it to let Opera connect to the web (for some reason, it didn't do anything about Opera, just simply stopped Opera from connecting. But that was some builds back. I'm not sure if the new build has the same problem). Its Defense+ feature is behaviour-based (i.e. HIPS = host intrusion prevention system) and has been touted by many review sites.

Despite all those seemingly big problems, I've been enjoying it because really, it didn't give me a lot of hassle and perhaps it's the smallest security package out there.

On its own, it spawns two processes:

cfp.exe, which uses about 3,420K
cmdagent.exe, which uses about 2,060K

If you're feeling adventurous, grab this beauty and tell me if you like it. lol

For free security stuff I use spybot search and destroy, lavasoft adaware, and avg. Also good to use is spyware blaster. For all the bad stuff people say about vista every time I run these they never find anything. And if the PC your trying to fix is too far gone to download and run these programs download, update, and burn universal boot cd 4 windows which you can boot from a cd or usb drive and run without all that adware/spyware running in the background. Hell, you could run a decent business charging people $50-$75 each to pop in and run ubcd4win and remove all that crapware most people have.

LOL Entropy, at first I thought your post was a spam ad. LOL

Those have been the well respected names. However, their performance has fallen behind emerging brands. SpywareBlaster is probably still the easiest and best passive blocker there is.
