The 30 day items like xp increase, and drop rate up, and harvesting up do seem like a perm upgrade... because all people have to do is buy like 12 of each in one fell swoop... and then not have to worry about it for another year.

Yes, but I highly doubt they'll price them cheaply. Probably $US20 a month.
