Well the announcement said:
"There will be a 30 minute Server Maintenance this morning (1-17-08). From 1:00 am - 1:30 am PST you will be unable to login to the games. If you are already logged in before this time, you will be able to continue play."
And because you were still logged in, you didn't get disconnected. =]
