Im not sure of the exact figures but i know that decomposition gives u more then 1 item per use (so decomposing a high quality copper ore gives more then 1 low quality copper ore). i think this is mainly used to get more items to level up production skills faster but i've never really used it so i'm also unsure... also, u will need alchemy stones, which can be bought for fame at the item merchant in elderine.
