I agree with Andy, however, the 3rd slot doesn't necessarily have to be a mage, any damager will do. My party from lvl 31~42 has been Fighter, Archer, and Cleric.
Fighter as a tanker, Archer as a damager, and Cleric as a healer.

Heh, sorry an archer is fine for dealing damage as well, just that i got spoiled with having fireriot in my party
