Oh man, I wish I could show you a screenshot my old inbox. I have a new inbox now without a lot of stuff because I don't need it yet.
But I use folders, categories (CTRL + 1/2/3/....), and flags. Sometimes folders and categories will overlap but multiple categories can be assigned to a single e-mail. Folders can really be anything that you want to drop mail into and archive away. Categories tend to be stuff that you deal with a lot and you just want to quickly be able to categorize stuff so you can filter off of it. You can also categorize your calendar so your calendar is color coded and you can quickly see if you're doing too much of one type of stuff (meetings with one dept. vs. social work stuff).
