Just try spicy foods without the 麻辣. I thought most Chinese people are spicy food. Some of the most famous Chinese dishes are spicy (or are supposed to be, eg. kung pao chicken, mapo tofu). Not like super spicy but just a tiny bit spicy.
Actually, I think the secret is to eat lots of rice. Whenever I eat spicy food, I always have to eat a lot of rice.
