i'd go into my rant about this stuff but i'm afraid that it would go to the point of insulting your mother so i'll restrain myself just this once.

We don't have all of the facts. Her grades may be failing due to too much unrestricted computer time. She might be a latchkey kid and the parents can't monitor the usage. I know, it's easy to be pissed off at a parent, but if you ever have kids, you'll see why stuff like this can be needed.
