That's precisely the point.

I just pulled it off in CS two hours ago. Idiot teammate threw a smoke, so I just ran right in and pulled the trigger when I saw a red name flash up.

Then you get to hear the other team rage about how you're a hacker, it's quite amusing. And no, I do not play the newbie Source.
