Hilton is as queer as a three dollar bill, but having pink hair doesn't really mean anything. Hell, I've had multi-colored hair in the past.
There are other minority groups that have taken a word used a perjorative and turned it's usage back on itself. I know plenty of gay guys that use "faggot" in a joking manner. It really depends on context.
