Exactly... and an example on this is the movie "Donnie Darko", not in plot, but in the fact that A LOT of scenes that meant a lot to the movie were cut and sent to the dvd's deleted scenes to shorten it to two hours. These scenes would've deepened the movie and expanded several of the character's relationships, making them even more three dimentional.
The same applies to writing.

and i agree that if it's TOO flowery, it's wrong, but sometimes the RIGHT amount of descriptiveness may or may not go over the word limit.
