Build matters a little but gears, SC items, and skill empowerments are more important.

But my recommendation: Pure STR or 25 SPR/rest STR build, high-end armors, enhanced axe, use aim, vit, and def scrolls. Once you stun and close in for the kill, it's all over unless you happen to have a non-enhanced axe and kill like a granny.
