But they are not utterly dependent upon the parent to
GIVE them life and sustain them. After the child is born, he relies more upon the parent for financial support and physical support than anything else. Not so for the fetus.
At any rate, if your definition of when life begins is if the fetus has a beating heart, then that doesn't happen until approx. 5 weeks in.
