Honestly, I don't know what to say.
I don't think there is such a thing as being "too nice." But at some point, I think you have to realize that some people are not going to be nice back. And then it's your choice if you think that it's worth it or not.
I think if it makes you unhappy, it wouldn't hurt to think twice about what your doing before you do it...
