Bonjour! The skill empowers carry over to the higher level skills so don't worry about that. The path forks and you have to choose between being a good tank vs a DPS (damage per second = damage dealer). Tank is more END than anything else, while DPS is more a mix of STR/SPR. From there, once you choose what you want to do with your fighter, then you can decide if you want to empower SnD or maybe Snearing kick (tank tool). Good luck.
