Wow! I don't understand all the votes for # 2. Everyone should be able to clearly see the artist has drawn selectively on the past, stealing what they like and dismissing the rest.
The artist in the second image has made a rather one-sided theory of artistic creation. No doubt, too, art novices demand the latest thing in exaggerated proportions, leaving the skill of artist #1 to scholarly curators with biases of their own.
One can seek out and approach each work as a fluid process of each artist’s deep inner hunger!
