Firstly, please don't necro post (i.e. posting in threads that are older than one month according to the date of last post). Old threads are considered "dead" and should've be revived, so I will be closing this thread.
Secondly, you are only allowed to get certain resolutions that's provided by the game. You have to go ESC > Games/Graphics option (sorry I can't remember which one, try both) and you should see the option in there somewhere.
We don't encourage modification of files because it is against ToS.
