Large corporation distribution of Windows XP was terminated on June 30, 2008.

It is still possible to use XP by purchasing Ultimate and downgrading to XP.
And yes, XP is infinitely better than Vista at the moment. Vista is still buggy and will remain so for quite some time. If you truly want the Vista look, override the files necessary, or use WindowBlinds and modify your desktop look from there. XP is rock solid compared to Vista in terms of stability.
