There isn't much to prepare for the job change. Just use your weapon you're most comfortable with. If you're worried, spend money on some t3 scrolls.
Though you can gain exp from mobs in your 50s I would suggest, as others have said, to not bother. Their exp is comparably low compared to how much damage and how fast you can kill them. At most you probably should stay around the Blue Clover Trumpies. It's better to be able to kill fast rather than trying for a huge chunk while spending 2-3 stones to kill it.
Though IMO, you probably have better exp and drops if you party (or solo) in the Abyss dungeons.
