Whether it be leaving the guild or being "kicked out" I think it's necessary for both sides to give an explanation. It doesn't have to go into detail but letting them know will keep you guys on better terms than just leaving or kicking them out. At least that's what I think.
I was somewhat pissed when people who asked to join just got up and left without notice. Yes, people come and go but when you ask to join a guild... have some respect. D<
