I agree with Spirit. Many times moms have to be to sensible and logical and that makes them appear to be unaffected by these things. But really, we are affected.
And, it may also be that his condition and quality of life had deteriorated to the point that dying was his release from suffering.
And, I don't think you are crying for him. I think you are crying for you mom because you know she has to feel so sad even if she isn't crying on the outside.
My grandmother passed away the first part of this month and when I messaged my friends to let them know where I would be for a couple of days I started by saying:

There will be tears and sadness because that's the nature of funerals and all that surround them. For me the tears will be because I don't respond as strong when someone I love is crying. But I can't cry for Grandmother, she is okay, she has reached her life goal.

I went on to briefly explain her physical & spiritual life and explain the more recent deterioration of her health and then closed my message by saying:
Quote:

The physical end was not unexpected nor is it overwhelmingly sad and devastating. The Spiritual existence is still here and most importantly, Grandmother is well and complete in the presence of the Lord!

Death affects all people differently. Just let your mom know that you are there for her. That will mean a lot.
