If you solo, I recommend Axe. I fell in love with axe after going 1H Sword + Shield... (2H sword is out of the question since it doesnt do max dmg, and it doesnt give you defence.. sort of like a lose lose situation IMO)

This is true. Use an Axe with the 1:2 STR:SPR build. Works out fantastic for soloing and the occasional / weaker tanking! However, if you find your defence is too low, then raise END till you're satisfied. (just don't over-do it).
