Lugnut

So that stupid stray dog that ended up living at my house made me cry this morning. <---- I HATE crying

My husband changed the oil in my truck this weekend and topped off all the fluids and stuff. Well, he left the anti-freeze on the top railing of the porch and the dog knocked it off and chewed holes all in the bottle. We found the bottle yesterday when we got home from work. But, the dog seemed fine and we knew that anti-freeze will kill a dog, but since he seemed fine we figured he did not digest enough of it to make him sick.

Well this morning we get up and he is gone. We call him and call him, but he doesn't come home. So, when I get to work this morning, I called the vet and they told us that even a little sip can kill a large dog!!!!! so, I called my hubby and he met me at home and we went in search of him. I found him in the horse pasture next to my house. He still seemed fine, but after calling the vet back, they told us it could take awhile for the poison to get into his system.

So we took him up to the vet and had to leave him there. He is currently undergoing $194.75 worth of tests and that was just the beginning. I still do not know if the poison hit his liver and kidneys and if it has, then there is nothing they can do for him. If it is still in Just his bloodstream, they can give him this stuff that will absorb the poison.

Anyways, the vet was supposed to call us back by 2:00. It is now 1:43 and I am sitting here on pins and needles waiting for my phone to ring.

Oh no...! I really hope he's okay... he seems tough. Stay positive, he'll get through it and start chewing on furniture again.

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is gonna live. There were a few levels that came back really close to the high side, but in the bracket chart they showed me, it was broke down into three levels: Low, Medium, and High, and even though a couple of the levels were really close the the edge of the Medium section, the vet said that it was still good, but we just needed to watch him for a few days.

But he is home!!!!

And here is a few pictures of him. I was supposed to post these for Resol a while back, but never could get my camera to upload to my computer. I now have that working, so you can all see what Lugnut looks like!!!!!

Ain't he cute.

Oh and since he was a stray, I asked the doctor if he could tell me what kind of dog he is and how old he is. He said he was about 1 1/2 years old and that he is a really good Hienz 57 breed, but that he looked like he had some type of Shepard and Terrier in him.
