Question for a GM =) TOS Related

Ok, let us start off by saying I can get really bored. I have done some programming such as the Fiesta Auto-Login and Fiesta Stat Emulator and has some TOS related questions.

I have an idea for FiestaFan style game launcher. It will behave just as the normal launcher(I.E. Download updates, show critical information) but will be a FiestaFan theme with a whole bunch of different things that can be done.

Now, would this disobey any TOS rules? If so, would changing the current launcher be acceptable(Example: Changing the skin or Webpage)?

I'd PM a GM on the official forums if I wanted a reply :x

SKiNG checks by here once in a long while but rarely posts. He might miss the thread.

I already PM'd them. I also posted here for ideas on that kind of things I can make that I can contribute to FF.com =P

I believe yes, because as far as I know modifying any Fiesta file is a violation of TOS.

ThievingSix 06-03-2008 04:09 AM

That's why I am asking; I don't plan to modify anything. My idea is to program a whole knew launcher that does the same thing only more FiestaFan'ized.

My ideas for it are:
  • Recent Announcements shown
  • Chat box
  • Recent posts
  • Fiesta Option Editor
  • Customizable interface.

Correct... any mod to a Fiesta file is a violation.

I'm not moding/editing/changing anything. Please understand this, reread my posts with this in mind.

sounds awesome to me :)
Wish they would allow it XD

Belaslav 06-03-2008 11:37 AM

I do not think that they will allow it. Writing a whole new laucher is modding, and they won't take any chances.

Now if you were to program something that runs parralel to the laucher, I do not see a problem... :p

ThievingSix 06-03-2008 03:54 PM

That is also possible, but I don't see why the aforementioned wouldn't be allowed. Maybe I can work out a deal with them to where I can create it and send them the source code so they can compile if they are paranoid.
