Enhancement does nothing

I am a L7 mage and I'm trying to enhance my short staff at the blacksmith. I bought some Elrue stones from the merch to use. I put my staff in the middle and then shift click the elrue to place in a one of the surrounding holes and click Begin, and nothing happens...
can anyone please help?

Odds are good that you are doing everything right, except one thing. The thing you are enhancing can not be equipped to your character. Try unequipping it then doing it. If it doesn't work I will help you again.

I assumed I did unequip, I rightclicked it and it went down to my inventory first before i dragged it onto the enh. window

Make sure the Elrue was shift clicked into an empty spot first so its by itself...

Sometimes you just have to close the whole thing and try again. I've had the problem before where it wouldnn't enhance... but usually closing it all down then starting it up fixed it. Perhaps try shift+z to reduce lag... etc.

Be sure you have only 1 elrue in the enhancement window - it won't do anything if you have more than 1 elrue in the stack when you put it in the enhancement window.

When I shift click the elrue, it defaults at 1 and that is what i choose - is there something else about it that im missing?

When you shift-click it place it in an inventory slot by itself before you move it to the enhancement window. I don't think it recognizes shift-click-place.

And just a tip: You shouldn't roll your dice with enhancement until lv. 20, or 30 if you're on the poor side.

Don't enhance till lv. 20, and then only buy already-enhanced gear. If I were you, I wouldn't try to enhance it yourself at lv. 20+ gear; the chances are desperately low!

Let the people with CS (perfects) do the work for you ;)
