Okay, this is what I do not understand
This is not directed at anyone person or any one guild. Please do not turn it into that. Also, this is not a Rage thread, it is a serious discussion and not an Outspark bashing thread. Please respect that.:)
Here is what I do not understand and have never understood. All people want to do is grind grind grind their way to the top and reach the level cap. Then they have nothing to do and say that the game is boring. Why??? What was the big rush about to get to the top. I have just now reached level 59 (the first level cap) and they will release a new level cap, well before I hit the level cap of 79. The game has yet to get boring for me. I have always said that I do not understand the rush to level as fast as possible, that you miss too many other things. Now, a lot of people are saying that they are bored and their is nothing new. Yet, everyday I play, I find something new. There are still maps that I have not been to yet and I get a chance to meet all types of people because I am not so high that only a few people can party with me. So, is it really worth it to be the first group to the top? |
Oh yeah, 59 was the first level cap! Lol I forgot about that. When I reached 59 it was like... so do I get something out of it? Nope, just another 3 million exp to grind through.
I do not understand the reason either. I guess when the Legends of Isya was on... it was a reason for people to get to 79 but the reward wasn't all that great for the work (and money for some) that people put into getting there. It was not like new maps or content was released shortly after for those who reached it to grind in or explore. In the end they're stuck leveling with all those other people trying to get there asap in FoS/AEW. Or quitting altogether because there's "nothing new". There's nothing to gain out of leveling so fast. Bragging rights? People think you have no life when you get to 60-70 in a week or two. So much for that huh. But it's not going to happen when you tell people to slow down and look around for once. Probably why we've got Clerics who doesn't know what Heal is and Fighters without even Snearing Kick. |
As of right now, there's bo REAL urgency (Unless you enjoy pvp a lot) but a lot people play this game TO grind, the grindwhores I know from other games said they liked to grind because it relieved stress, some felt incomplete unless they were capped, etc.
I wouldn't always say "to be popular" since not all capped people flaunt themselves. When guildwars and stuff actually matter more I"m sure a lot will grind for that purpose. It really just varies depending on the person, but I'm sure some people have done it for their e-peen length. |

I never got it either. It varies per person.
It could be.. 1. Rush to see new zones, KQs, equips, etc. 2. Cap=Top=Best=Elite(which isn't true) 3. They just play a lot. 4. In some peoples cases, Legends of Isya. I find it funny that a bunch of Teva's "legends" quit soon after capping. Its like they assume theres glory at cap. But once they cap... they realize its actually kind of boring. Thus, they quit o.O |

If it was like some other game where you were able to find some piece of costume from mobs... like cat ears for example. Or even a different version of the same level armor (perhaps with a different color, looks, or even different stats/requirement). Then I would see that there is a point in staying after reaching level cap. But that is obviously not the case.
Do they hold events to keep them busy? No, not really. Do they at least add new Cash Items to play around with? Nope. So why do you need to be in such a rush to level? I would understand the need and want to reach 60 cause you get a new title and the job change is fun too. But after that there isn't much else except maybe level your production skills. I know that when I was around 55 I worked to get to 60 cause I wanted to be a Scout but now she's just sitting there collecting dust. So I can't imagine what people are going through after reaching 79. It's obvious that more and more people are closing in on the current level cap. It's also evident that more have reached their 60's and are taking over what little space the 70+ have to work with. When you hold a contest to have people race to the level cap you had better be ready to open up new maps for them soon afterwards. Because it's not just 1-2 people trying it for it... it's the whole community. EDIT: About the new zones thing. People in their 20s are capable of getting to FoS with the right group. So you don't really need to be 60-70+ to see 'new zones'. Which is kind of sad in a way. |
