Anyone hear?
I was watching the news, and there's a clinic (didn't hear where at) somewhere in the US that infected thousands with HIV.
=/ They said that when they were injecting people, they would take the needle out, and refill the same one with liquid to use on the same person. Only problem is that once it has blood on it, and it's dipped back into the fluid, it's now got that person's blood in the fluid, contaminating it all. Seriously... get a new needle. Nao. This would kill me if I knew I was the one that caused it all. I couldn't live with myself if I knew that I might kill thousands. Any other thoughts? |
i'm not sure about that happening in the US.. but that certainly happened in China...
Poor villages were encouraged to "sell their blood" to make ends meet, but the poor system has infected the entire village (or villages, i think more than 1 village was infected) and adults are dying, leaving sick and poor children behind.... and all the blood collected are not usable... it's so sad... that lives are trashed like that... these villages are so poor and uneducated that they dont even know wat AIDS are... and there are people selling fake medications to them saying "this will save u"... its..... horrible! |
^^I totally did not want to know this.
But I don't think it's the infectee's fault b/c he/she *might* not have known that he/she had been infected with HIV. The real fault is the clinic, of course. |

Either way... it's still a horrible thing to do. =/ |
They should be fired (and executed?)
Isnt it common knowledge that u NEED to replace all needles because all bodily fluids must be treated as potentially infectious?? (even i know that, and im not a doctor). Are they even qualified? |
No idea... but like I said...
I'd probably shoot myself if I ever found out I infected people on that scale. |
it looks to me like the equipment wasnt properly sterilized
the entire clinic should probably be shut down! well they'll be sued heavily for sure if they know which clinic started it... compensation!! and i guess the person who started it is only partially at fault... the should've probably informed the clinic that they're HIV positive... but either way, the clinic should've been using new needles and things!! |
It isnt your fault, its the fault of those unqualified "doctors"... although if i saw or heard that kind of thing i would probably never go to them in the first place...

Thus the reason for the white text in my first post. Not that it will ever happen...
