I heard...

that some people still got the 1.3M xp from the bugged Burning Rock Quest.

How.....? Well apparently they got the quest, killed the necessary number of monsters....then sat on the quest....

That means that they didn't turn it in and waited for after the patch to claim the reward from the NPC.

May I be the first to say lol?

The only reason I didn't do the quest then sit on it for later, was because I assumed as any rational person would that the quest was a bug and would be later fixed to the detriment to all who did the quest. I was not wrong. However I assumed and saw in advance from about five minutes of thought, that there would be some who would be saving the quest and naturally assumed that the quest would be removed as one of the first fixes.

Why wasn't the quest removed with the patch and why wasn't this caught?

Fail....

Those people took a gamble and it looks like it payed off.

I'm more concerned with how Outspark didn't see this coming.

I thought that removing the quest since there were bound to be some saving
it
, would be one of the first precautions to take.

I thought that would be one of the things they would fix too. :/

That would have been the logical thing. Take it out fix it then put it in. The only reason I could see for them not catching that the quest was bugged is because the GMs are always level 150 so they are used to seeing all the quests and didnt notice that everyother player could get them as well.

I wish I had thought to do that because I don't think my rollback was right but I can't prove it either way.

What I know for a fact is that with the rollback my exp was removed so I dropped back from L54 with 22% to L53 with 43% but my L53 skills were taken away also and I had to buy those again. Let me repeat for clarification - my L53 skills, not any L54 skills.

I thought it was odd when I logged in after the rollback and my skills that always live on my quick-bar were no longer on my quick-bar - at all! I had to drag the icons back to the quick-bar. That kinda puzzled me and after I thought about it the next day I went back to the Skills merchant and sure enough, those L53 skills were available for me to purchase again.

Now, when they took away my L53 skills, did they adequately compensate me for those? I don't know since I didn't screenie my inventory before the rollback, but it does trouble me that they took my skills that had nothing to do with the level I attained from Curly's quest.

Had I had foresight to hold that quest once completed then there would have been NO rollback on my character and I would not have to wonder how accurate my rollback was
.

I was wondering about that.

akio950 03-01-2008 07:50 PM

it was worse for me

All my money was taken away from me when there was the quest wipe D: :(

Does anyone even bother testing game content BEFORE releasing it?

I say more power to these people. IMO it was pretty clever of them to do this (heck, I didn't think of it myself), and since Outspark didn't think of this ahead of time, that's the company's loss (using the word "loss" loosely here)
