Searching is a hassle.
 

The minimum of 4 letters per word in searching is a major pain... Does it preserve bandwidth to have the 4-minimum, or something?

I thought it was the main forum at first, but I guess it's this one. =\

I don't find it too bad, rarely use the search button anyway.

I think it has more to do with the company that makes these forums than it has with the individual forums.

Ok here is my guess.

Everytime someone uses the search button, it takes up some "bandwidth" (not sure if it's called bandwidth or something else, but it's the thing that lets FF load faster). It's a bit like the New Posts function, every time someone uses it, it contributes to lagging FF. There is a 4 char minimum limit because if you search for something that's only 3 characters or less, a LOT of results are gonna pop up and that's like major lag for FF.

It makes you unable to use a lot of conjunctions, but other than that, its ok if it prevents lag.

Yeah, sometimes I wish the limit wasn't there too. But I always think that it helps reduce lag so I put up with it. Might wanna wait to see what Entropy says.
