XTrap Compatability
Outspark has finally done it. They've really pissed me off this time.
XTrap although a nice tool to have around is screwing up. I cant get into game as it kicks me out telling me to disable windows XP compatability mode. Yet, due to the fact I run windows 2003 which outspark's launcher does not work for without compatability mode, I cannot get in game. This is really frustrating me. |
You'll have to post in their forums and pray for them to update it. The main reason it's blocked is because compatibility mode can be used to disable APIs the XTrap uses to protect the applications memory.
Good luck. Hopefully they will be more responsive than most game companies. |

Furthermore, punkbuster, does a much cleaner job as far as operating system cross compatability goes. It seems like the developers have no clue what their doing if they didn't test this game on platforms like Windows Vista x64, or XP x64. All I can say now, is that my spent money is going to waste. As a customer (no longer a player) I expect the service to be better than it is. At least Blizzard would've deemed this unacceptable before it even made it out onto the patch download servers. |
Gah, I can't really help because I'm a computer noob, but I really hope that they'd fix it up so you can play soon. There are probably several other people out there who's experiencing the same problem. =/

X-TRAP indeed
It also got me angry when i couldnt get on the game because of X-Trap..
I've seen X-Trap ruin gaming experiences on oher games that i used to play Like "Grandao Espada"(a bit like final fantasy12 cause you free roam using 3 chars at the same time) because of it i couldnt log on anymore..i got so angry i just quit the game i dont want to do that again on this game.. |
So, I got the email

I'm disappointed with their lack of intellect when I clearly wrote to them and clearly gave them a picture indicating that XTrap is kicking me for using Windows Compatibility Modes, and look at the response (presumably cretz) gives. It appears outspark isn't willing to do anything for the group of us that face these problems. It appears they arent even willing to aknowledge that there is a problem with the last paragraph stated. The last Game Master who had any sense in him was Steam, but he's gone. SKing seems like a nice person, and he may possibly be willing to confront the issue, but aside from that I have little faith this will ever be resolved due to the nature of the email. This is how outspark treats its customers. They only care about you until they have your money. After that they are no good. At least Electronic Arts keeps the game alive by making sure its players can play. Outspark ranks lower than EA in my books (and EA is as low as you can go.) It looks like I wont be on for awhile. And a note to the outspark developers who may or may not be lurking here, you guys arent very proficient at your jobs. Cross compatibility is easy to achieve if you use the right software solutions, and use API's which exist on all versions of windows. Whats utterly embarassing is that Windows 2003 is a 32-bit operating system. The only thing it has is a better and more stable foundation, removing excess redundancy in the XP operating system to increase its performance. If you cant develop to work on a 32-bit operating system virtually identicle to XP, you fail as a programmer. Furthermore its not too hard to retool your compiler to compile for an x64 machine, unless you were utterly terrible at coding this game, and never used proper practices for cross compatibility (possibly some fundamental casting mistakes.) What is even more nerve racking is outspark support had the gull to call the support ticket closed. I've never seen such poor customer service, most other companies keep the support ticket open until a real solution is found, or at least until they hear the words "it worked." What little faith I have in outsparks ability to handle stuff has gone out the door. |
Don't blame all of Outspark, or even Outspark.. like SKiNG explained to us: The makers in Korea send them all of the patches and such and all they do is apply them to the game. If something doesn't work, they have to wait for the Koreans again. Look at it like this...
Outspark is doing a quiz, Onsoft, the original makers, gives them all of the answers. All Outspark has to do is write them down. All they can do is hope its right and works, if not, they just ask Onsoft to give it to them again. They do what they can. |

With the opening of the cash shop this cant be run under the "stick it out there" pretense. If you know anyone who works with servers that manage banks, insurance numbers, employee records, payment records, you know that before they even roll out new software given by developers they perform extensive tests. Multiple operating environments, multiple machines, stress tests, functionality tests, etc. The same goes with just about any other professional company out there. Its the same with car-manufacturing, or manufacturing of almost anything. Sure you get the bad bunch, but have you noticed? Cars with leaking fuel cells will be recalled immediately, bad pipes get replaced, bad parts get removed. Outspark should at least be able to roll back and wait for a decent patch. EDIT: Whats more take a look at this!!!! http://www.outspark.com/forums/showt...370#post309370 I think my blame is entirely warranted. |
This xtrap program just freezes my computer, it doesnt show no error or nothing, it jsut freezes it  and as far as the CS goes, I think its just all crap. Most of the messages they reply are nothing but prewritten messages and when you send them a report, I think they pick which one is closest to what your problem is and they send that one to you. I have noticed this when I was having another problem with fiesta not working on one of my other computers, and when I sent them a CS report the first time, they sent me this message:
Quote:
Then I send them another message saying that the problem still persists, and when they messaged me back, it was the same exact message  they need a much better CS that involves people who know about codings and that game instead of just hiring a bunch of people off the street who know NOTHING of that game, either that or stop being a bunch of lazy assses and actually help us :( |
Since that message does not specify any direct problem, it sounds like a computer generated message, where their e-mail service scans messages looking for certain words, and then it sends a reply back depending on what words it flagged.
