It may get more people, but they might not actually stay. Some guests like to see what a forum is like before joining. So I don't think forcing them to join then being able to read will help. It'll make the site have more members, but not many active ones. Or some may not even come here because they need to register. Lazy people :3

Yeah, I agree. People like to lurk first. I came here more or less on a whim and since I wasn't really looking for anything if I had been required to register before even seeing the forums I would have probably just left without giving it a second thought.

It'll probably piss people off just looking for guides. Just restrict certain parts of the forums till they register and then maybe see what they do.
