Considering a new phone...
 

So I've had this really old fashioned phone for almost 5 years now (still on the numpad keys! LOL).

My friend keeps telling me I should get a new phone because my phone can't receive pictures hahaha. I was a bit lazy to get a new phone until I found out today I can't even take shitty pictures with it anymore (must be from the number of times I dropped it).

Does anyone have any recommendations (besides iPhone)?

I'm not much of a big phone user... but maybe I'll use it more when I get a smartphone or whatever you call them.. basically I want to be able to take good pictures with them and use the internet.

Edit: oh and I care about the cosmetic aspects of it LOOL. I know all phones are big now but I'd prefer not to have a hugeee bulky phone.

Edit2: oh and I don't really want a blackberry either

Ive had a couple android phones and they're pretty good.

Lot of different versions, some with better cameras than others, some also have slide out keyboards which IMO is much better than the on screen ones.

Yeah HTC is probably the next smartphone in line.. but there's many models as Entropy said, and it'll take a bit of research and reviews to see which one's best... Kev's got one that's not terribly great.. but I think he's got one of the cheapest / oldest models..

Why not get a samsung galaxy s II? It's one of the best android phone's out right now. I believe it has an 8mega pixel camera.

Are you limited as to which phones you can get from your provider or you can just buy any?

And yes, don't get a Blackberry.

My mom got the LG dLite the other week and it takes nice pictures too surprisingly. Not a smartphone though.

I have a Google Nexus S and so far I love it. Much prefer the Android too...

EDIT: And yeah, if you can get GSII then go for it. I would've if they my provider had em..

I was going to switch out of them because their reception is so crap, but with Optus for $29 plans, I only get 200MB data, and the next one up is $60 for 1.5gig.. the plans often come with a phone but I've already got one so it's kinda lame..

while Voda has a $35 plan with 1gig data.. which would suit my budget better.....

but back to Blah, you might need to look into plans as you'll need a plan with data quota..

... I'm glad I have unlimited data for $29. Though not sure how much that would equal to for Aussies... o:

Totally sucks that all $29 plan here only have 200MB, I checked my data usage and I use on average 300MB a month.. and the next one up is double the cost with 1.5gig.

which is so stupid considering that on a $70 cap it'll come with a free phone too..

What browser do you use? Opera Mini is a great browser for phones. It takes in fewer data and works extremely well in low-coverage areas and really good for low-end phones.

I jus use safari on my iPhone.. but i think it's my Emails that's killing the data usage...
