I was just playing LoL when my screen went off the fritz and froze. I force shit down my computer and waited awhile, restarted it AND NOW MY COMPUTER DISPLAY IS COMING UP AS 4-BIT COLOR WITH 640x480 resolution.

And I can't change it. Yes. FOUR BIT.

Is this a graphics card problem??? And how do I fix it?

This is what it looks like...

Actually, that looks kind of normal. It's much worse than that...

Sounds like your graphics card drivers shit the bed. Uninstall and reinstall them.

Ralath 09-28-2011 02:46 AM

How can I find which ones they are and which ones I need to install?

You need to find out what graphics card you have. Do you know right off? You could probably get it from the Windows system screen.

omg I didn't even notice. >_>

OK. Here's what happened.

I haven't installed the driver I dled yet. I'm pretty sure I have the right driver for my graphics card. Do I have to remove the original driver first or can I just install on top of the old one?

I restarted my computer again and it actually came up with all the right colors. But then I tried to change the resolution because it was stuck on like.... the old really big resolution and it went back to the 4-bit color again... T_T

I just tried installing new driver software and they came back with the message: "Couldn't find appropriate hardware."

??????

Blaaaaaaaah 09-28-2011 07:22 AM

What version of graphics card do you have? List the specs so you can make sure you dled the right one?
