I've been pronouncing the letter "H" wrong my entire life! Kinda ironic esp when my own name starts with a H.
I blame that on my Hong Kong English education that has taught me to pronounce it "Haitch". I never noticed that I'm pronouncing it wrong until just recently when my boss starts to correct me everytime I say "Haitch". She picks on me for saying "bat-tery" too.. coz we're suppose to pronounce it "Bat-chery".. |
wait, what? battery pronounced as "bat-chery"? that does- i don't know-
why D:? |
I think it's the Aussie way of lazy pronunciation..
like Youtube is you-choo-b xD |
i don't get you aussies ._.
|
Just tell them it's a different regional accent and to get the fuck over it.
Then start working in alternate pronunciations of all sorts of words. My favorite is aluminum. |
There's not that much to get.. we're just lazy and choose not to pronounce everything properly xD
|
Do you pronounce the "h" in white and while too...? Bugs me when people do that.

"We're gonna be here a wuh-hile" "What?" "A wuh-hile" I think all accents and dialects have their own quirks. My friends from English used to bug me about how Americans don't pronounce their T's correctly. Like little. We pronounce like "liddle", my name is Katie but people say it like Kadie. Then again I can recall knowing English people who didn't even put anything where a T was supposed to be. Little become Li'le. We're all guilty! |
