Energy Efficient

Was just reading this article about people turning their home into a more energy efficient homes by replacing appliances to something more energy efficient..

Quote:

More recently, he has been replacing every light in the house and garden with low-energy compact fluorescent bulbs. All the halogen downlights were exchanged for LED downlights. The new bulbs use one-fifth of the electricity and significantly reduced costs.
It sounds like it made total sense.. but what they fail to mention is that LED lights also reduces the brightness..

We installed these in our room, and it was not bright enough for the desk..

No one ever mentions what we lose from "saving energy"...

Mine are fine o: But they do take awhile to brighten up when you turn the light on.

Same - I have them in the kitchen. What I would do is put them in places that you don't need to see right away if that makes sense...like a desk's lights are direct at the desk, versus those in a room,

Yeah that's wat we end up doing..

I have 3 lights in my room.. we replaced 2 that were just shining the floor, and left the ones above the desk a halogen..

LOL when I changed mine to the white ones earlier, my room looked like a laboratory from the outside!

Wait I'm confused... aren't LED light bulbs the ones that aren't efficient? 'cuz as far as I know (or seen/experienced) is that the swirly energy efficient light bulbs are actually way brighter.

I think you're talking about CFLs, not LEDs. You've just got to check your lumen levels before buying bulbs.

Darky room, win.

crystalblueheart 05-16-2011 01:21 PM

Yeah it's CFL....LED didn't seem right :O LED are used in TV's to make the brighter xD

Hraesvelg 05-16-2011 02:17 PM

I was talking to Leesa. They do make LED bulbs.
