I refuse to believe this..

Someone just posted:

"In Hong Kong, a betrayed wife is legally allowed to kill her cheating adulterous husband but she may only do so with her bare hands."

I cannot believe that this could be true, I'm born there, and still watch and keep in touch with lots of HK news. Never heard of such a thing.

Apparently they found it on some World Fun Fact Application..

I googled that and none of the source for that looks reliable (all blogged sites and stuff, dated back to 2007), but none of them said "hoax" either...

Anyone bored and want to help me verify this?

found a post about ancient chinese law

also saw some stuff dated 1998 about a law against adultery in china and tougher divorce. the adulterer could be made to pay their spouse if it led to divorce. also couple had to spend 3 years apart before they could be divorced.

Aren't there are a lot of these laws that no one knows about or follows?

In the states they have these things about dumb state laws, things like "IF ITS AFTER MIDNIGHT AND YOU'RE WALKING ALONE, YOU CAN'T LOOK AT THE SKY," shit as dumb as that. So the thing you're talking about could be the same sort of thing.

So that's suggesting that it's an Ancient Law? I hope so! I know a tradition like that existed, but that should be illegal now..

Yeah, but none of that said you can kill your husband right?

Destrus 07-07-2010 05:24 AM

no, none of it did. i'm assuming that with putting in those laws they made sure to remove the old one or maybe they just forgot about it. it's probably just as leesa said though, some old law nobody knows or cares about.

But would be used to prove their innocence if/when that happens. :P

That's precisely why I can't believe that law exist.. not in HK anyway.. maybe some communist countries..
