Does anyone know...
if putting in a video card would break a standard dell warranty?
|
it didn't break mine. though i did buy my card from them it wasn't brought up in the conversation so i don't think it affected it.
|
Probably, since you have to open up the comp case. But you can always ask their customer service, lol.

that is one good thing i have to say about dell. their customer service was pretty damn good. i dropped my laptop and bent the pins in the network card slot and someone came out the next day and replaced the motherboard for me. but also like i said they let me change stuff myself and it didnt' affect anything. though if there's a problem with something and it involves teh video card they won't help you with that. that was the one thing that pissed me off though. i bought the video card from them and was having a problem but they wouldn't help me. somehow my rage fixed it though o_o. |
Opening it should not void your warranty. Irregardless, having a technician do it is always a better option. I do consider myself in the top 1% of computer users, and I sometimes have technicians come by to do the work, even though I probably know more about computers than some of them. I'm not going to be humble; that's the truth. Why do I do this?
Because if something screws up, I can point fingers. Throw in a technical argument instead of a vague "he put that card thing in that slot," and you pretty much win every battle against customer support. |
Alright. How much do technicians usually run you for?
