Yeah, a lot of them are named after stuff. i heard somewhere that Ezreal is the online name of one of their main developers.

I've known for a while that a lot of things (items/champs) are based or named for real-life counterparts. Veigar is apparently the nickname for a really tall Riot guy, few/lotta female champs are based off ex/current gfs of Riot staff etc. Pretty cool from some aspects.
