Hmmm... have you tried to retype it but change things like 0's or O's, or 2's to Z's ?

GO buy another and use the reciept from that to return the original and get a full refund.

Unless the receipt has the product number (the one that is 'broken') or some other form of identifying different copies of the game he could return the initial copy with the new copy's reciept, or atleast try. Yes ?
