Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is coming up again. Do you have any plans to celebrate or do you think it's just all too commercial? If you are celebrating, what are you doing?

I've always lumped Valentine's Day in with Mothers and Fathers Days as a 'special day' created by clever florists and retailers and thinK it's very cynical. I also think it's a really hurtful day to be single and I hate that it makes people upset. So I have very rarely celebrated it with DH. (Despite my dislike for the day, I still manage to get jealous of other people getting flowers etc though!)

This year, however, DH has suggested we celebrate it (which makes me worry -) and I'm at a bit of a loss what to do.

Celebrating it is easy - find something quiet to do to enjoy each other's company. Don't go out to a restaurant, they will all be extremely busy. Just stay in and enjoy being together.

*Sidebar* this advice comes from someone who has been divorced for over 10 years.....

Would cook your own dinner for her be something special? Or maybe do a neat meal together...

I agree with Helion.. dinner out would be expensive and packed and.. its not so romantic xD

Don't think I'll have someone to celebrate it with, and honestly I don't care to celebrate it XD

But I agree with the others, it's probably nicest to stay in, enjoy a (simple) meal together and maybe watch a movie or something.

This year I think it'll be better to stay indoors since Valentine's is Chinese New Years as well. Streets will be packed double time.

It's cute when little kindergartens make hearts and stuff though.

hahah.. oh valentines day... that brings back the memory of years ago when everyone got chocolates but not me.. (-_- the rule from the teacher was you had to bring something for everyone. and SOMEHOW everyone miscounted me on their list.)
blah. my mom thinks that chocolate makes me sick, so ill probably be getting white chocolate this time xD (not that white chocolate is bad *o*)

It's a nice holiday, but it has been commercialized way to much, just celebrate it with your lover :D
